Special notes : The perfect example of European movies discrimination

Try to understand fortune and you will end up in chaos. The director approached the comedy and drama genres with an unknown intensity, his efforts culminating in the movie “40”, one of the most absorbing comedies I’ve ever seen.
Emre Sahin shows us that there is no need of idiotism in the birth of comedy. The suave situation twists and character decadence create a unfamiliar set where anything could and will happen.
The action is set in Istanbul, the dreamers paradise, which becomes the crossroad for the three main characters : Godwill, Sevda and Metin. Each one has a different background; Godwill the Nigerian who wants to reunite with the love of his life, which now resides in Paris, arrives accidentally in Istanbul and now seeks a way to come up with the money necessary for his departure; Sevda, the nurse with strong beliefs in numerology, suffers because of her husband and seeks solace in her credence and Metin, the thief and taxi driver who thinks that he is jinxed, endlessly trying to change his luck.
As Metin is running a chore for a mobster ,this elusive task implying a money bag, he takes a break to meet somebody for his well being and loses the item. Needless to say that he is therefore under constant pressure to return it.
The bag seems to be the main reason for the characters interaction  because Godwill finds it then, after being hit by a car driven by the unknowingly Metin, wakes up at the hospital. The funny part is that Sevda works at that hospital and when she finds the money she makes a run for it, leaving Godwill senseless in another doctor’s care.
The three characters pursue the same thing, the bag, in a breathtakingly manner which implies new comical situation, thrill inducing action as each ones story is revealed beautifully building up to the bittersweet end.

“ I was a Buddhist for 9 months. I tried Christianity for 17 months. I even covered up for 3 months. But the emptiness inside never went away. “

            We were expecting you…
